Buhari can’t bring change to Nigeria – Gani Adams

The national co-ordinator of Odu’a Peoples Congress of Nigeria (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, General Muhammed Buhari can change the situation in the country, which he described as, “over rotten”.

The leader of the Yoruba group however admitted that President Goodluck Jonathan has his shortcomings, especially, in the area of security, which has resulted in the abduction of over 200 innocent secondary school girls in Chibok, Borno state.

He disclosed that the President remains his candidate and that of over 50,000 members of the OPC during the March 28, 2015 presidential election, adding that, Jonathan is not the nation’s problem, because he has tried his best to effect the change but certain factors are militating against his efforts.

Adams stated this on Friday while fielding questions from newsmen in Abeokuta at the Olumo rock, during the celebration of Lisabi festival.
According to him: “I don’t believe in individual change, our system is over rotten. When we are looking for change, it’s about our constitution and the institutions. Buhari cannot change the system.‬

“Although, the All Progressive Congress (APC) has been calling for change in almost all the sectors in the country, believing that, General Muhammed Buhari would effect the change if he becomes the president, it is only when the constitution and the structure changes that change can come. No President can perform any miracle to change‬‬ things in this country as it is now.

“On the Chibok girls, I believe those girls are not in Nigeria, the government should search beyond Nigeria, they should search Niger and Chad Republic for them,” he opined.‬

This year’s Lisabi festival commenced on March 9 and will climax on Sunday, March 15 with a thanksgiving service at the Cathedral Anglican Church, Ake, Abeokuta.
